Ontario Pitbull Ban

The second phase of Ontario's ban on pitbulls took effect Nov. 28.
As of Tuesday, all newly born pitbull puppies must be shipped out of the province, given to a research facility, or killed.
The first part of the ban, which came into effect at the end of August, required all pitbulls to be leashed, muzzled and sterilized. The provincial government implemented the ban after a spate of vicious attacks by pitbulls on people and other dogs. Premier Dalton McGuinty says Ontario's pitbull ban is a ``matter of public safety.''
The law is facing a constitutional challenge led by famed defense lawyer Clayton Ruby, who has called the ban ``unconstitutionally vague'' and ``overly broad.''

It's unfortunate that the entire breed's reputation suffers because of the "bad apples". Not all pitbulls are monsters. I wouldn't have allowed our three pitbulls anywhere near my four children if they were.

This ban is ridiculous! I recently had animal control come to my house and explain that pit-bulls can't even be lose in their own backyard and must be micro-chipped, my pit-bull has never hurt anyone and is full of so much love. These dogs are now prisoners. It disgust me. The owners who make their dogs violent should be punished. I always see on television about the government trying to save animals existents, then why are they doing this? getting rid of an entire race? They are the animal abusers and killers!

People are ignorant. They think by applying a Band-Aid they are getting rid of the problem when they are just adding to a bigger problem.
These bad owners that have pitbulls are just going to now be moving on to the next known dog breed that can be vicious. It's gonna be a horrible cycle before government officials catch on and find out that it's the bad owners that they should of been stopping in the first place.
So many people are yet to be hurt all because of the governments doing. And before the government really acts on these bad owners, one of there family members is going to have to be a victim. It has to hit close to home before they realize.
It's not the breed, it's the owner. The people that can't see it are ignorant.
Also all these people that claim it was a pitbull that attacked, are they sure?? People that are dog illetrate mistake Boxers, American Bull Dogs, Mastiffs, Cane Corso's and a bunch of other dogs for pitbulls. Can we really rely on what they are saying????
The ignorant people need to look at the bigger picture.
The ban is not fair for all pitbulls if there going to have any law like this it should just be a law for all dogs that bite to be muzzled.I have two pitbulls and children they are the most wonderful dogs ever with my kids,when they get hurt the dogs are right there giving them kisses.So there for it is the owners fault that the dog truns out like that. It's like humans are you going to hand cuff the ones that are abusive for life?
They need to get rid of the ban!! my pitbull is loving and caring and playfull, doesn't harm anyone. Is raisied with children. People tease these dogs and then they wonder why they get bitten!! It goes for all dogs all dogs bite if they are abused!!! Owners who abuse these dogs should go to jail, don't punish the breed!!! this is the stupidist thing i ever heard in my life!!!
This ban has to be one of the worst things to have happend in Ontario, and for what! pride NO! that cant be it. Has any on come to think that it is NOT!! the dog that is the cause of all of this but,The owner. In the case of some of the dog was hit by kids trying to see what happenes to them. I have had a Pit-bull and I have to say it thought it was a lap dog and we all know how big they can be, it was the biggest suck I've ever seen. My little mexican dogs have more bite then it did. But my Pitty passed away shortly after the ban was put in to afect and i would not punish her eith a mussle all the nabours knew her and liked her. SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE GOVERMENT!! why cant they relise that it is not the dogs falt, people train their dogs to fight and that is the worst part about it. Whats next the ban on dashhounds and more are will they just ban all dogs and say they can turn at any time.
