Pitbull Puppy Ear Cropping

We took our pups to get their ears cropped. Here are a couple of pictures of them when we picked them up at the vet. There are also a few more pictures on Page 5 of our Pitbull Gallery. We went to Kokua Pet on Dillingham in Kalihi for the cropping.

Just to let visitors know, other comments were deleted because it was the same thing 4 times. Anyway, just to let this poster know, even without their ears cropped, their ears were NOT down. That's why we cropped them. If they had good "down ears" like Angel, we would have left them as is. We like the look of females with their "ears down" - but these females never had ears down to begin with. So cropping them didn't put them up, nature did. Cropping just made them a little shorter.

To each is own, but I don't really like the cropped ears. It doesn't make them any more vicious, but I prefer the natural look. I have also seen people who have docked their pits' tails. This is also really ugly to me and unnatural. But like I said, to each is own.

This is ridiculous. Why would you do something like that to a wonderful creature.A true pit would not have it's ears cropped. It hurts the animal and it looks tacky. I really don't see the point in this foolishness. And i really don't know why doctors do this operation.

Good choice on having your dogs ears done. I had my two pits done this last week. I thought about it for a while and spoke to 4 different vets on the issue. I choose a vet that does not tape and rack after the surgery. He does a medium cut that has the pits ears standing immediately. I problem with the surgery is not the surgery itself, but the taping and racking for 10-14 days afterwards. I had my pits done in the morning and by 6pm they were running around the yard playing.

Maurice, congratulations on your puppy. My two are doing great - they both had the ears done by a vet that does not believe in racking. He does the cut and puts a collar on them for a week to keep them from messing with the stitches. In a week he removes the stitches. Both my puppies were playing around that evening and the next jumping in and out of the pool with the collar on so I believe in this vet "hand" - the puppies ears came out beautiful. I can't recommend anyone in Modesto because I'm in Texas. Call some of the local breeders for advice and vets - find one that does a cut not requiring the rack - that worked great for us. I think the worst part for the dogs is the racking so if you can avoid it do so. Good Luck.

i am having my pup done only b/c she has really long ears. i have a 2 yr old pit with natural ears and ended up having problems. see if she plays and hits her ears or gets roughed up she ends up with a big blood clot and swelling in her ear b/c some dogs have sensitive ears. im getting my pup done to avoid this problem. i have spent so much money each time i have to have my oldest pit's ears drained due to the pooling of blood. but i think pits look great with cropped or natural!!

holy crap haters! do human babys remember the surgery from getting their dick cut when their born? nope, i doubt the dogs do either... and the ear cropping help prevent earmites... so do some research treetards!
