Blue Pitbull Jealousy

The day we took Mana to the cry to get his ears cropped, there was another older dog that was there. The nurse commented on how all the dogs that coming in that day were bigger dogs. She said there was a big blue boy in the back.

When we took Mana back to his kennel I got to see this other dog. He was huge with a nice big head to match. I couldn't help but take another look, this was a great looking dog. Very impressive. I was starting to feel a little bit of jealousy that someone else on the island had such a beautiful blue (and big to boot) that really did rival our dogs. I mean I've seen other nice dogs before and have admired them and thought they looked great, but also knew that our dogs were just as nice. Of course, I think ours are a little bit better, but I'm biased. But this dog - wow, he was an impressive boy. You could tell he's still a bit young and will fill out and probably muscle out a little more and look even better when he does.

After I left the vet, I called Allen to tell him about this dog. The next day when Allen went to pick Mana up, he got to see the dog and agreed that this dog was a nice, big, blue male. I was wishing we could find out who he belonged to.

Well, guess what? We just found out yesterday, that that big, beautiful, bully boy we saw with the nice head is KOA! Koa, from the same litter as Amaya, son of Angel and Polu. The last time we saw him he was only 4 months old (page 2 of picture gallery). At that time, he did have big paws, but he was looking like he might be on the taller/lean side. We knew he might also fill out and be thick, but we thought, if he did, it probably won't happen until about 18 mo - 2 years of age. I certainly did not expect his head to blow up the way it did. I didn't think it would be too small, but I didn't expect to see him later and think "Wow, he has a good size head."

Koa just made 1 year old in October. His owners have been in touch with us and are planning on sending over some pictures. When they do, we will definitely post them here so that you can see them. Needless to say, feeling of jealousy are gone. The beautiful male at the vet was produced right here by our own blues. We're happy to know that Koa went to a great home and is doing well!
