New blue pitbull puppy

We got a puppy! Actually, we got two. It's so dangerous to go "look" at puppies because you always ended up wanting one. We ended up getting two females. One blue female and our very first, *gasp* black and white female. I know, our website is 808 Blue Pitbull - but this little black and white we got was the runt of the litter. Wait 'till you see pictures, she is so tiny! We took them to the vet today (they made 6 weeks) - the bigger puppy is 8 lbs, and the runt was only 2 1/2 lbs! We just have this weakness for runts, so we just had to get her too, even if she is black and white instead of blue.

These two young ladies did excellent last night. We put a towel into one of those travel crate for them. We gated off a section of our bathroom, put the crate in that area (door open) and newspapered the rest of the floor within the gated area. They did not mess in their crate at all. They both went out of the crate to do their business on the newspaper. Eventually, we'll be able to lessen the area that we lay the newspaper down in, but for now, the idea is that they do NOT mess in the crate, and they seem to be handling that without a problem so that's very cool.

Thinking of getting another pitbull puppy

I hardly believe it, but we're seriously thinking of getting another pitbull puppy to add to our bunch! We still complete undecided on whether to get a male or a female, but we have done some looking. One litter we've looked at is part Razor's Edge, another we're thinking about buying from is part Gottyline. We'll certainly let you know if and when we do obtain another puppy and will, of course, post pictures to the site.

Finally! A picture of Shasta

Okay, so it's taken us 6 months, but we FINALLY got a picture of Shasta up on our Female Pitbull Page. She is now a year and a half old that the picture shown was just taken a few days ago. Shasta was the runt of her littler nad has very similar color/markings to her Dam, Angel.

Pitbull regulation in Cohasset

"If passed, the article would amend the town's bylaws to allow responsible residents to own pit bulls, while ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the town's residents. All pit bulls would need to be registered with the Animal Control Officer, in addition to the regular registration and licensure required for all dogs. The article states no household may have more than two pit bulls at any time, with puppies less than nine weeks old as the only exception."

This article also states that a pitbull owner must be at least 18 years of age. The dog must be muzzled when away from the private property of the owner and must be "adequately and securely" led and leashed by someone who has a clear ability to physically restrain and control the dog.

UKC Pitbull Standards

In 1936 the United Kennel Club, which was put together by dog fighters, had standard pitbull weights listed as follows:
Females preferred from 30 to 50 pounds.
Males from 35 to 60.

Today's UKC standard states: The APBT must be both powerful and agile. Actual weight and height are less important than the correct proportion of weight to height. Desirable weight for a mature male in good condition is between 35 and 60 pounds. Desirable weight for a mature female in good condition is between 30 and 50 pounds. Dogs over these weights are not to be penalized unless they are disproportionately massive or rangy.
