Getting Rid of Ticks

With summer under way and the weather warming up, you may find ticks to be more of a problem. Here are a few tips that can help if your dogs are in the yard:

Get rid of unnecessary items/debris in your yard

Cut down any tall weeds or overgrowth

We've also sprayed our yard with Adams Flea & Tick Yard Spray

In addition to that, we routinely use Frontline Plus on all of our dogs. Every month on the 1st they get a Frontline Plus treatment to help prevent ticks.

What to feed your Pitbull

Many people ask us what we feed our dogs. We do believe that food matters. We feed our dogs quality food that has been recommended by other breeders and by vets.

We mainly feed our puppies and pregnant or nursing dogs Nutro Natural Choice - Large Breed Puppy Food.

For our older dogs (12+ months) we switch over to Nutro Natural Choice - Large Breed Adult Food.

Since we have a number of dogs, we just buy the big 40-44lb bag whenever it's in stock. However, locally, we've found that these bags are often out of stock. So the links above will take you to an online source of Nutro Natural Choice Food.

We also heard that Chicken Soup is good. Squirt (one of our males) eats Chicken Soup.

I just found out that it's available in Chicken Soup Adult (Large Breed) or Chicken Soup Puppy (Large Breed). I don't think I've seen the Large Breed variety offered at local pet stores. It's a blue pitbull reunion

Yup - it was a pitbull reunion last week as some of the owners of our pups came by to visit. Nenny, Amaya, Koa, Shasta, Angel, Elekoni, Ho'omalu, Li'ili'i, and Tank (Ho'o and Li'i's brother) were all there.

Tank and Li'ili'i were the only black and white pitbulls there. The rest were all blue. I wonder if my neighbors were worried about having all those pitbulls in cul-de-sac. They were all on leashes, though the puppies (Ho'omalu, Li'ili'i, and Tank) were allowed to run around and play for a while.

We were able to get some pictures, so we'll sort through those and see if there are any good ones to add to our gallery. If so, you'll be able to see some updated pictures of Koa, Amaya, and Nenny. Again, these were our pups, but they are no longer for sale. They have already found good homes with their new owners.
