No Pitbulls are Good with Children...
OMG - if I didn't just see that statement made on a message board and get very upset! The person said that her father had a pitbull who was nice and great with people, but terrible with children. She saw the dog nip at chidren on 3 different occasions so the pitbull is always put in a closed room when kids are around. She went on to say that pits see children as little animals instead of as humans and that's why you always hear stories of attacks on children.
If your dog (pit or not) has "issues" with kids, then they have dominance/aggression issues in general that need to be addressed. They are not "balanced" dogs.
You better believe I responded to that post and said that that statement was ABSOLUTELY FALSE.
Then I posted these pictures...
Now this person was posting her statement in response to someone else who was concerned for a family member's new baby. She said that their pit was hyper and aggressive. She also said that this dog had attacked and killed a number of small animals, but that the owners "swear" the dog has mellowed out. She also said that they worship their dog and never discipline it.
Now I don't care what kind of dog that is...pit or not...I would also be concerned. Not so much because they own a pit, but because of "how" they own this dog and because they are obviously not giving the dog what it needs to be a balanced/happy DOG.
Would I trust my kids with that dog? Pit or other breed, NO WAY. But DO NOT say that NO pits are good with children because that is simply NOT TRUE. It's owners like the one above though, that give the breed a bad name and result in "incidents" that can be very dangerous.

i have a red nose pit and she is 1 1/2 years old and i have a 2 year old little boy who can do anything to her and she will just sit there just the other day i walked in the living room and he was bouncing up and down on her back saying getty up horesy and she just sat there any dog can be aggresive but it has to do with the way you raise it if you teach your dog to be mean its going to be mean !!!
some nice pictures of pitbulls you got there! It's a shame the media don't recognise that many other breeds of dogs have the odd bad apple amongst them.

A pitbull will turn on a child in heartbeat, and when that occurs, it is too late for the innocent child. Would you like me to post all my pictures of disfigured, mangled and dead children as a result of supposedly nice well trained pitbulls?? Your fooling yourself, and I pray and hope it never happens to your child or someone elses.

I love the page. I have a blue Amstaff male and he's super gentle and sweet with children. It's such a shame that this wonderful bully breeds have been accused wrongly by a media. They're such caring and loving by nature and loyal to death.

leave a few pics of the devetation done by a pitbull to wake people up. Today we had to put down our family pet, he was 2/3rd German Shepherd 1/3rd pit. At night he would dig under the fence or climb the 6' fence and go hunting small dogs and cats that he brought home dead. I beleive the pitbull is genetically engineerd to be a killing machine.He killed 2x and now he's gone. There is something wrong in a dogs brain and genes to kill just for the sake of killing

idc wht anyone says about pits they are not mean or evil its the way there trained i have a half pit and half rottweiler got him when he was 3 weeks old abandoned and he is the greatest dog in the world he lets kids ride him pull his ears pull his face, tail anything he just sits there but have someone he dnt kno some near his child he does not like it he will protect anyone or anything i trust him with kids 100%
I have a 9yr red nose, whose father was fighting with another male on the day I picked her up. The owner ended up getting bit in the leg while breaking it up. HOWEVER, I have had 9yrs of companionship with one of the greatest dogs. She is my baby girl and has changed the minds of many. As far as children, I WOULD AND HAVE TRUSTED THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AND THE CHILDREN IN MY FAMILY with my Pit. She has saved my son from my drunk father, stood between a cousin trying to aggressively spank his daughter, stood between my brother with a gas mask and my son. When ever adults get to aggressive when playing with any children she is there to police. Every night before bed she goes to each of our kid's rooms to check on them before she lays down for the night. Anyone who walks into my house with a baby receives their very own guard dog. It is not a possessive attitude she displays but a guarding mode. However all dogs are different and leaving any dog alone with children is a risk. SO IF YOU DON"T HAVE PITBULL EXPERIENCE, LEAVE ADVICE GIVING TO THOSE OF US WHO DO!!! Pitbulls with PROPER and BALANCED training are great with children. And to those who say they can post pictures of disfigured faces of children due to Pitbulls...let me know when you are ready I have just as many from Golden Retrievers!! Ignorant people are the problem not dogs.
