Dogs for Sale

We have a number of dogs up for sale and are opening Moose up for stud for a limited time. See pictures and details at http://www.808bluepitbull.com/forsale

When we announced dogs for sale on MySpace, everyone was wondering why we were selling them. Some were worried that we knew about a legal issue that they didn't. There's no legal issue and we're not selling them because we don't like them or anything like that. In fact, it's the opposite. Right now the demands on our time in other areas of life are great. We aren't able to give each dog the type of attention and time we want to and know they need and deserve.

So, we are looking for good homes for these dogs.

If you have questions or would like to discuss payment arrangements, contact us via e-mail at info [at] 808bluepitbull.com.

Moose for Stud
We are opening Moose up for stud for a limited time to the first 3 approved females who reserve their breeding - discounted rate of $1500 for the ones who contact us first (and get approved - you own the litter outright).

Wow - People Love Fella

Just recently uploaded a new video to YouTube (not a dog one) and saw that we had new comments on some of our other videos. Of course, there were comments from people saying that our dogs are not pitbulls.

Believe me, we know that the traditional APBT would NOT be 70-80 lbs. They were 50-60 lbs on the heavy side and were very lean and athletic in look. From the experiences we've had, that look is also heavily associated with game bred dogs which we definitely don't have. (and when I say "game" in that sentence, I'm not talking about "drive").

Anyway - getting off topic here. Back to the videos. There were also lots of positive comments and while we were poking around in our YouTube account, we noticed that Fella's video has almost twice as many views as any other we have uploaded!

This is the one people seem to love...

If you think this video is cool, you are free to post it to your own website, blog, myspace, or facebook page if you want. We do not have it saved as a private video, so it IS free to share with others without having to get permission from us first.

So if you like this video too, feel free to share it!

Plans for 2009

Do you have puppies?

This is the question we've been getting all year long. LOL Right now the answer is "No."

But since so many people have been asking, here's what we have planned for 2009.

Liilii x Lil Fella- next time Lii goes into heat, the plan is to breed her with Lil Fella. You like short and stocky? This is the breeding to look out for. If this goes down, pups will probably run about $1500

Angel x Moose - this is the breeding Allen wants to do for Angel's last. Next time she goes into heat, we're hoping to hook them up. We'll let you know if it happens. Allen really doesn't want to sell the pups from this litter since it will most likely be Angel's last. Availability will definitely be limited if this does go down and you can expect pups to go for a minimum of $2000 if not a little more.

Miss x Monster - Full Gotty breeding. Little Miss (Moose's Sister, Geronimo Daughter, Monster Grand-Daughter). When she goes in to heat, the plan is to inseminate her with Westside's Monster/Monster Jojola (direct Juan Gotty Son). The semen is already here on island, so we're just waiting for Miss. Pricing on this litter will probably also run $2000+ due to the cost involved in bringing it about.

Chances are we'll also breed Diamond this year too. Not sure on the stud for that one yet...Maybe one of Koni's brothers, but we'll have to see how it all works out with the pulling schedule.

So if you've been waiting for puppies, that's what you may have to look forward to. We expect the girls to be ready within the next few months or so. We'll keep you posted.

Thanks for your interest.

Diamond Earns APA Weight Pulling Points

Diamond did great this weekend at the APA sanctioned pull.

The first day she came in 2nd in her class (pulled the same weight as the other dog ahead of her, but he was a pound lighter). She was 1st for dogs under 70 lbs for most weight pulled. Again, they pulled the same weight, but she did it faster so she got the win for that one. Bella (owned by Ben and Sasha) won most weight pull per pound for dogs under 70lbs. She pulled the same weight as Diamond, but only weighed 53 lbs vs Diamond's 62.

Today, Diamond weighed in at 61lbs and did better.

She dogs below her pulled 1050lbs, but couldn't pull 1200lbs. Diamond pulled the 1200lbs and the next round's weight of 1350lbs.

This gave her:
1st place in her weight class (61-70lbs)
1st place for most weight pulled for dogs under 70lbs
1st place for most weight pulled per pound for dogs under 70lbs

Congrats to the other dogs who also placed and got medals. I don't know them all, but I know Magnum (also owned by Ben and Sasha) won his weight class and Roc (owned by Hawaii Julz) won his class as well.

Some of the American Bulls that came out did well too. I believe Whitey, Bones, and Mana all pulled 1800-2000lbs on Saturday.

This is Diamond's 1200lb pull...

Moving Right Along

As the weekend approaches (yes, I know it's only Monday, but we've been looking forward to November 8th for a while now), we're already starting to prepare for the weekend. We just secured another truck to help us transport the dogs to the show. We'll may have up to 6 dogs at the event. Moose, Fella, Diamond, and Lii are set to go. We're still debating who else we're going to bring. You'll just have to see when you get there. Heck, we'll just have to see when we get there LOL.

Remember, we'll also have t-shirts available for sale at the show. If you plan to attend the show, don't by the shirts here on the website. Wait until the show because we'll be offering a show special price. Can't wait to see everyone there. Please stop by to say hello if you come. Maybe you'd even like to be a part of our live streaming video and just tell everyone at home how you like the event. ;)

808 Blue Pitbull Shirts Now Available

So we've FINALLY gotten our shirts printed and done. We had something very specific in mind which was actually a pretty complicated design as far as shirt printing goes. We had a couple of people tell us they could do it no problem. Unfortunately none of those worked out, but we finally found a printer who did what he said he could do - print the shirts, stick with his price quote, and FINISH them by the deadline.

If you're interested in purchasing a shirt, they are $20 and include shipping to anywhere in the USA (no international orders at this time please). We have Adult Small - Adult XXXL.

Here are some pictures of the front and the back of the new 808 Blue Pitbull shirt.

Bully Bash 3 - Polu Boy Tops 2008 Hall of Fame Vote

Aloha and thanks to everyone who stopped by to say, "Hello" at the Bully Bash event this weekend. We had a lot of fun and got to meet and talk with lots of great people. For us, that's what these events are all about: the DOGS (first and foremost) and being able to hang out and talk story with others who love dogs as well. It's so much fun!

One of the things that happened during the course of the evening was voting for the Hawaii Pitbull Hall of Fame. There were 15 dogs nominated and top 3 receiving the most votes would be inducted into the Hawaii Pitbull Hall of Fame at next year's Bully Bash event (scheduled for October 2009).

There were quite a few great dogs listed on the ballot. You'll see the names on the results below. Our Polu Boy was one of the nominees. Of course, we think he's a great dog, but like I said, he was among some great company on that ballot so we were quite surprised (but happy) when the results were posted. Here they are...

Results for the Hawaii Pitbull Hall of Fame 2008 Vote

Click for full size view

So thank you to everyone who voted! We were surprised, overwhelmed, and happy to see the results. One dog on that list that we'd really like to see make it in.....TUBBS!!! If you have a chance to cast a vote in 2009 (come to the Bully Bash to vote) and you're not sure who to vote for, we'd encourage you to cast your vote for Tubbs. Why? Because not only is he an amazing dog, but MANY of the dogs listed on the ballot or already in the Hall of Fame are his offspring! Hawaiian Rhino (already in) is his grandson, Big Busta has Tubbs in his pedigree, Tequila Sunrise, the only female on the ballot this year is Tubbs' daughter. If his kids, grands, and greats are in the Hall of Fame and nominated to be in the Hall of Fame, we really think that he should be in there too. JOHO (just our humble opinion)

So again - it was great meeting everyone out at the Bash!

Thanks to everyone who voted for Polu Boy!

See you on November 8th in Haleiwa!!!!

We will have shirts for sale on November 8th. We'll also be putting pictures of those shirts up here on the blog very soon. If you plan to attend the Ultimate Hawaiian Island Bully show in November though, do not buy from the website! We'll be offering special pricing at the show on November 8th at Haleiwa Elementary.

We Have Hope for Both of Them

As you may or may not know, we bred both Liilii and Diamond about a month ago. Actually, about 5 weeks ago to be more exact. Now Diamond definitely looks thicker, BUT we also changed her food (she's not on raw...yet). She's now eating a higher calorie food since she exercises a lot, so that may be part of her getting thicker, plus she just went through a heat and just made 1 year old, so it could just be "normal" development/maturing. So we don't want to read too much into it. The picture shown here was taken this week.

Li'i, on the other hand, doesn't look all that much bigger. The only "sign" that she might be carrying pups is eating less right around the 4 week mark. She has since gained her appetite back in the past few days and *may* seem slightly thicker. But then again, could just be seeing what I want.

In either case, the reason we have some hope for them both on their breeding is because of how their abdomen feels. Now, I'll admit, we're no where near experts in this area. We just did some reading on what we might be able to look for. Then we did some gentle feeling of their abdomens and compared it to what we felt when we did the same thing with some of the other females in our yard. AGAIN, it may just be a case of wishful thinking, but to us, it feels like there's a chance they both caught.

We're hoping to get a second, more expert opinion on Diamond tomorrow morning. With Lii, we'll just wait and see. The reason we want to have a more definite answer with Diamond is because we want to know whether we can continue to train her to pull for the upcoming events, or whether we have to lay off and resume her training after pups arrive.

We'll keep you updated on both breedings as we find out more.

In case you're not familiar with the breedings:
Lii was bred with Mana Loa - muscular, well toned match up

Diamond's stud hasn't been announced here yet, but since we have told people who've asked us, we'll let you know too. Diamond was bred with Hawaiian Rhino, which, needless to say, means that if she does catch, that litter will more or less be spoken for as soon as it drops...if not sooner. Diamond is the daughter of Tubbs which makes her half-sister to Rhino's mother (Tequila Sunrise). So if you like that look, Tubbs, Tequila, Rhino....that's what we're going for with this breeding. We'll see if it takes.

It's On - Mana x Lii

This is a breeding we tried before, but since we didn't really have our own place for breeding at that time, we didn't let them hook up naturally and it didn't take.

So this time around, we decided to let Mana and Lii do their thing. We mentioned last week that we'd be doing this breeding, and now it's happening!

Mana Loa is a Notorious Juan Gotty Grandson out of Mikeland's Blue Gator and Mikeland's Sammara.

Li'i is a Razor's Edge/Sierra-Gaff female. Last time we bred her with Tubbs and she had just 4 pups. If you've ever seen Lii, you know she's not a huge female, so we're really don't expect big litters out of her. If this breeding does take, we do believe that availability will be limited.

If you want to stay notified of what's going on you have a number of choices. You can...
We'll be sending out updates via all those channels if this breeding works out.

Champ's New Headshot

This is another thing I meant to share a while ago, but just didn't have the time. Champ's New Headshot is now up on Mana's website on the produced page. I can't remember if I posted this picture here or not. I don't think so. Champ's Headshot is up on our myspace page (in Champ's album), but if you haven't seen it yet or you haven't been to Mana's website yet, go check it out. It's the last picture shown on the page and was taken when Champ was about 10 months old.

Also, there are new pictures of Moose, Fella, Diamond, and Liilii all up on their pages.

Hope you enjoy the pictures!

The Pitbull Weigh In

Every once in a while we weigh our dogs. Last time we got some weights on them was before we moved back into our own place (end of December/early January). We recently scaled some of them again and boy were we surprised with a few of them. Previously Diamond was about the same weight as her mama Lii. Actually, Lii was about 45 lbs and Diamond was about 47 lbs (pretty much the same as what she weighed at the Dog Pull in November).

Then there's Fella and Moose. They were both 4 months at the time of weigh in and they were both 50 lbs. It's funny because Moose seems to have so much more girth, but I guess Fella's got good weight to him too.

And back to Diamond, who was just 47 lbs a couple months ago...she weighed in at 63 lbs! Yowza!

So everyone seems to be thriving in our new home. Even Angel who had some kind of reaction back when we moved out of our other house. We stayed with family for a bit while we waited to move into this place, but there's something about that yard that just isn't right with her. We ended having to take her to the vet and she had actually dropped below 60 lbs at that point. She got a shot and some medication which seemed to help, but she still wasn't picking her weight back up like we'd hoped. We were quite worried about her. However, now that we've been in our own place again for about a month, she's back up to 70+ lbs which is such a relief to see.

It's great to be in our new place where we have much more room for the dogs (and the kids of course) and it makes us happy that the dogs seem to like it here as well.

Mana X Lii - Breeding this Week

We have our Mana Loa X Liilii breeding going down this week. Mana Loa is a Notorious Juan Gotty grandson. He is the son if Mikeland's Blue Gator and Mikeland's Sammara. Liilii is 75% Razors Edge and 25% Sierra/Gaff.

If the breeding takes, the pups are expected about mid-March.

On our Produced Page you can see pictures of dogs that were produced from Lii's last breeding (with Tubbs) and Mana's last breeding (with Shasta Girl). This is the first time these two will cross, but we think it'll be a great mix and will produce some great offspring.

It's the New Girl

Ahhhh yes. A while back (in this post) we mentioned that we were looking forward to the pick up of two females and that you'd be meeting them soon. We'll it's time to meet the first one. She is 13 weeks old right now and has been with us for about a week now. She's doing great and she's beautiful. About a year ago I told Allen that, if we had a chance to get a champagne colored dog, I wanted one. Just a few months later, Mana's litter threw champagnes and we got Champ. The other coloring I wanted if we ever got a chance was a tri-color. I never thought we'd have the chance to buy one here. I thought we'd have to bring one in from the mainland. BUT....look what we got...

Not only is she a tri, she's a blue tri-color and a Notorious Juan Gotty granddaughter on top of that! We're very happy to have her. She is Moose's sister. In fact, she's the one we originally wanted from the litter, but when we inquired about her, she was spoken for. Then, after we had Moose a few days, the breeder called and said her original buyer backed out. Kealii over at Pacific Pitbull Kennels knew we were interested her, so he gave us the first chance to pick her up when she became available. Thanks again to Pacific Pitbull Kennels!

Excited About the New Year!

Happy New Year! Can you believe it's already 2008?

We're excited about this year because we are going to get to see our new male additions grow up. By the end of the year they'll be a little over a year old and may have even completed their first breeding. This is also the year that we plan to breed Beautiful and maybe even Diamond for the first time.

So for those of you who have been calling and e-mailing and calling again asking when we're going to have puppies....stay tuned!

Another thing we're looking forward to is the pick up of two more females. They will more of less complete our line up for the time being. You'll meet them within the next month or so. These two probably won't be ready to have their first litter until 2009, but they are going to be something!

As you can see, after taking a bit of a break in the second half of 2007, we have a LOT going on here are 808 Blue Pitbulls. Again, the easiest way to stay up to date on breedings, available puppies, and available stud service is to sign up for our mailing list on the home page of the site. Just enter your name and e-mail address in the form and we'll send notification of all major events to you via e-mail.

Hope you had a safe and wonderful holiday season!

Website Updates and the Name

Yup, we've done a few more website updates. The most recent one is the addition of new photos to Mana Loa's page. We plan on breeding him within the next few months, so be on the lookout for that announcement.

The other updates, if you haven't seen them yet, include new pages for some of the dogs shown on our Males and Females pages. So if you haven't been there recently, check that out too. Also, Beautiful and Li'i should be going into heat within the next month or so and we plan on doing breedings with both of them at that time.

If you'd like to stay up to date with breedings and available puppies, the easiest way is to sign up for the mailing list on our home page. That way, whenever something happens here at 808 Blue Pitbull, you'll automatically receive notification via e-mail.

Oh yes, and last but not least, the name of the "new guy" mentioned in the post below is "Moose."

808 Produced - Leif

We got a visit last week from one of Angel X Polu's kids (and his owners of course). It's always nice to see pups as they get older. We are always interested to know how they are doing and love to get pictures. However, when we get to see them in person it's a special treat. So thank you to Rick and Sarah for taking great care of Leif and for bringing him by to see us every now and then.

Here are some pictures from Leif's visit. He was from Angel's last litter and is just over a year old in these pictures. He's growing into a big boy. When he went to the vet a few months ago, he was already pushing 90 lbs!

Hi, I'm Leif

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things

I know we've been a bit "sluggish" in getting new posts and information up. That's because our webmaster and blogger (that would be Stacie) is on maternity leave ;). We welcomed the newest member of our family (the newest human member that is) on November 9th. Our baby girl is doing well and Stacie is slowly but surely getting back into life outside of caring for our newborn daughter. So hopefully, we'll start updating more frequently.

Many people have been calling about puppies, asking us when our next litter will be. Obviously with the new baby and a mov all happening within the past few months, we planned not to have any litters at this time of year. However, when our females go into their next heat, we do plan on breeding them. So please stay tuned and we'll let you know as soon as any new developments come about on the breeding front. We expect the our females to go into heat in the first few months of the New Year. If you don't want to have to keep coming back to check, sign up for our newsletter. That way, we'll contact YOU when there's news to announce and you don't have to spend your time checking the website every week or so for updates. Being on our mailing list is the easiest way to stay up to date with the latest news (sign up on the home page).

New 808 Graphics to Share

I was playing around on the computer last night and found place to make an rotating GIF. I actually got the idea from No Sudden Moves Kennels because someone made on for them for their profile picture on MySpace. So borrowing the idea from them. Mine is not as good, but not bad for a first try.

Back From Vacation with Pictures of Squirt

So we're finally getting back in the groove of daily life after our vacation. While on vacation we finally got to see Squirt in person again. Last time we saw him he was only about 8 weeks old. Since then we've only seen a few pictures. So we were glad to be able to check him out.

Of course, we brought back some pictures of him from New Jersey. For those of you who don't know who Squirt is, he is Elekoni's littermate (brother). Here are his pictures from the trip.

Going on Vacation

Aloha,

Hope you all had a lovely Labor Day weekend. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that we'll be away on Vacation for a few weeks so you probably won't see much going on here at all. We will still be receiving e-mails, but since we're on vacation, we may not respond....not because we're ignoring you, but it's not exactly vacation if you're still doing all kinds of online stuff you know?

Anyway - hope you have a wonderful week and we'll see you around when we get back.

Just for Fun - Angel and Allen

The other night when we were trying to get pictures of the Lii X Tubbs pups, Allen was holding them up next to each other (two at a time). Well the whole time we were trying to take those pics, Angel was in the area just hanging around so he decided to pick her up too. She didn't want to look at the camera and Allen wasn't about to just keep hanging on to her until she did LOL...sooooo this is the picture we got.

We've been so busy that there hasn't been much time to update the website with new pictures and information. However, we got a little bit of it done.

Our breedings page has been updated with breedings we're looking to do in the next year.

Also, now that we have Diamond and a few updated pictures of Beautiful, we updated our Females page as well.

So if you haven't been to the site in a while or have been waiting for some updated information, go check out those pages....

Breedings Page Updated

Our last litter went FAST and Li'i's litter has no puppies available for sale to the public......sooooo, we decided to let the cat out of the bag with another breeding that we've done.

Originally, we didn't want to say anything because we're really not sure whether or not this breeding will take. We also feel that if it does, there may not be too many puppies. If the breeding is successful, we're not really expecting a litter of 9 like Shasta had for a number of reasons. But, we decided to let you know that we had this breeding in the works because we've had so many calls still coming in asking about puppies. Though we don't have any available right now, we just wanted to let you know that there's a possibility, there may be pups available later (they are expected in the first half of July).

However, though we were very involved with the breeding itself, we are not the owners of the sire or dam, so we will probably not be the ones caring for/showing/selling the puppies. So why are WE telling you about this breeding? Because it's a breeding between Pixie (daughter of Angel and Polu, owned by Stacie's sister) AND Asuncion's Hawaiian Rhino (sire to Hawaiian Angel).

Yeah - you can just imagine the pups this breeding will throw if it works out.

Will keep you posted as we know more. Hopefully we'll have an idea within the next couple of weeks.

Li'i X Tubbs Puppies Dropping

Today is the day that Li'i X Tubbs puppies are being born. So far there are four, 2 males, 2 females. I think there's a possibility, she may be done. Either that, or she's taking a very relaxing break. The two girls were born first (one black and white, one blue and white), then the two boys (the first one was blue, the second all black except the chest). The boys are already latched on and eating! They all look very strong and Li'i is doing a great job taking care of them.

Will post again if there is an update later.

Mana X Shasta Litter SOLD OUT

Well, it's official, all puppies from the Mana X Shasta litter have been spoken for and deposits sent in! They are now 5 weeks old and will start going to their new homes next week. If you are one of the new owners to these pups, please keep in touch with us! We'd love to see how they are doing.

If you missed out on a puppy from this litter, we are expecting another litter in about a week (Li'i X Tubbs). This litter will also go VERY QUICKLY. We'll certainly send out a notification to our mailing list as well as post information here on the blog when the puppies do arrive. We've been asked if we can take deposits now, but because Li'i is such a compact dog and a number of picks are already going to the owner of the stud and to us, we really don't know how many picks will be left. If Li'i has 6 or more puppies, there will be a few available, but those pups will not last long, so please contact us as soon as you hear about the puppies arrival if you want to reserve a puppy.

Also, in all likelyhood, this will be the ONE AND ONLY time we get to do this breeding. From what we understand, this is the last time the sire of the litter will stud out. Li'i is Razor's Edge and Tubbs is a solid, known producer from the Sierra/Gaff lines. Both sire and dam are muscular in build so we're expecting some awesome puppies. Pricing on this litter will probably be about the same as the Mana X Shasta litter.

We can't wait to see the pups and they should be here in about a week's time so keep an eye on the site, or if you're on our mailing list, keep an eye on your inbox!

Hot Picks for the Mana X Shasta Litter

Well, it looks like the two champagne females will be the first females to go. We have two people who said they want one of the champagne females and will send in their deposit by the end of the week (plus a number of others who keep calling about those saying that they want one). We'll see if the expected deposits come in or if someone else will get those picks.

Also, my two favorite picks for the males (#2 and #4) are getting lots of inquiries. Most people that want males are looking at either one of those two picks even though the champagne male is the biggest of the litter to date.

So far we don't have anyone who has secured their favorite with a deposit. Some are coming from the outer islands so there is the mail issue, but we'll be showing the puppies next weekend and if puppies haven't already been reserved by then, they'll definitely go quick once we show them. If you want a puppy from this litter, seems like the females are going fastest. Give is a call or send us an e-mail: info @ 808bluepitbull . com (take out the spaces) or call Allen at 808-864-2848.

808 Blue Pitbull Going to Japan

Well...not us, but one of our puppies. The last puppy from our last litter was purchased by a guy in Japan. Only thing...Japan needed 40 days notice before we could send her. So today was the day we took her to the airport to start her journey to her new home in Japan.

I hope she has a good trip. Bye bye Blue Ribbon (that's the name the guy in Japan gave her).

Pictures from the Pitbull Bash

Well, I have to say, for a first time event, the Pitbull Bash went quite well today. Of course, I think it can be bigger and better in the future, but today's event was lots of fun and a great day for local pitbulls and those who love the breed. We took a few pictures today. We also heard there were a few connections with a few mainland magazines there, so hopefully our local pits will get some mainland exposure.

Those of you who were able to come to the bash, it was great to see you! Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello. For those of you who couldn't make it, hopefully we'll do this again and you'll be able to be a part of the next event.

Hopefully, we'll be able to get some video from the bash up as well, but that may take a little while. But for now, here are some of the pictures from today.

So if you're going you can pick up a shirt and you'll also know how to find us! I don't think any other kennel is making shirts of this color, but we'll see.

Hope to see you there this Sunday, April 29th at Waianae High School.

Pitbull Litter Update

As of 9:45 PM, Shasta delivered 8 puppies, primarily blue, 4 males and 4 females. However, we don't believe she's quite done yet.

So we'll call to get an update in the morning and post the info here.

It also looks like 2 of the females may be a champagne color, but we won't really be able to tell until the pups are a bit older.

So far pups and mom are doing well.

*update* - now there are 5 males and 4 females.
