Diamond Earns APA Weight Pulling Points

Diamond did great this weekend at the APA sanctioned pull.

The first day she came in 2nd in her class (pulled the same weight as the other dog ahead of her, but he was a pound lighter). She was 1st for dogs under 70 lbs for most weight pulled. Again, they pulled the same weight, but she did it faster so she got the win for that one. Bella (owned by Ben and Sasha) won most weight pull per pound for dogs under 70lbs. She pulled the same weight as Diamond, but only weighed 53 lbs vs Diamond's 62.

Today, Diamond weighed in at 61lbs and did better.

She dogs below her pulled 1050lbs, but couldn't pull 1200lbs. Diamond pulled the 1200lbs and the next round's weight of 1350lbs.

This gave her:
1st place in her weight class (61-70lbs)
1st place for most weight pulled for dogs under 70lbs
1st place for most weight pulled per pound for dogs under 70lbs

Congrats to the other dogs who also placed and got medals. I don't know them all, but I know Magnum (also owned by Ben and Sasha) won his weight class and Roc (owned by Hawaii Julz) won his class as well.

Some of the American Bulls that came out did well too. I believe Whitey, Bones, and Mana all pulled 1800-2000lbs on Saturday.

This is Diamond's 1200lb pull...

Moving Right Along

As the weekend approaches (yes, I know it's only Monday, but we've been looking forward to November 8th for a while now), we're already starting to prepare for the weekend. We just secured another truck to help us transport the dogs to the show. We'll may have up to 6 dogs at the event. Moose, Fella, Diamond, and Lii are set to go. We're still debating who else we're going to bring. You'll just have to see when you get there. Heck, we'll just have to see when we get there LOL.

Remember, we'll also have t-shirts available for sale at the show. If you plan to attend the show, don't by the shirts here on the website. Wait until the show because we'll be offering a show special price. Can't wait to see everyone there. Please stop by to say hello if you come. Maybe you'd even like to be a part of our live streaming video and just tell everyone at home how you like the event. ;)

Possible Live Stream of Pitbull Event

We're looking into live streaming the Ultimate Hawaiian Island Bullies event via UStream. We've set up an event at UStream, have a webcam, and have a friend who is offering their clearwire internet connection. So if we can set it all up, we'll try to get some live video stream to you from the event. Just in case you can't make it or aren't sure you want to come, you'll may very well be able to check it out via the internet. We've been told that someone else will be streaming the event live over the internet as well, but don't have all the info on that. This other group is much more fancy and will probably have a much better production going, but we thought it would be fun to try to do it too. So we'll see how it goes.

If we do get it hooked up, we plan to show it here on the blog AND on our myspace page (www.myspace.com/808bluepitbull).

If you're not our friend on myspace, feel free to request us and put a comment in your request that you came from the blog so we know why you're requesting. We get a number of friends requests each day and some people are complete strangers with private profiles so we have no idea why they are requesting us. We usually deny those, but if you include a comment in your request that you came from this site or blog, we'll know who you are and can approve your request.

You can also follow us on twitter if you're not already doing so. It's just another way to be kept up to date with everything that's going on. If you don't have a twitter account it's free to sign up, just go to www.twitter.com. You can follow us at www.twitter.com/808BluePitbull - we will try to post updates on twitter during the event as well.

Again, the event is the Ultimate Hawaiian Island Bullies show and it will be this Saturday, November 8th at Haleiwa Elementary.

Bully Bash 3 - Polu Boy Tops 2008 Hall of Fame Vote

Aloha and thanks to everyone who stopped by to say, "Hello" at the Bully Bash event this weekend. We had a lot of fun and got to meet and talk with lots of great people. For us, that's what these events are all about: the DOGS (first and foremost) and being able to hang out and talk story with others who love dogs as well. It's so much fun!

One of the things that happened during the course of the evening was voting for the Hawaii Pitbull Hall of Fame. There were 15 dogs nominated and top 3 receiving the most votes would be inducted into the Hawaii Pitbull Hall of Fame at next year's Bully Bash event (scheduled for October 2009).

There were quite a few great dogs listed on the ballot. You'll see the names on the results below. Our Polu Boy was one of the nominees. Of course, we think he's a great dog, but like I said, he was among some great company on that ballot so we were quite surprised (but happy) when the results were posted. Here they are...

Results for the Hawaii Pitbull Hall of Fame 2008 Vote

Click for full size view

So thank you to everyone who voted! We were surprised, overwhelmed, and happy to see the results. One dog on that list that we'd really like to see make it in.....TUBBS!!! If you have a chance to cast a vote in 2009 (come to the Bully Bash to vote) and you're not sure who to vote for, we'd encourage you to cast your vote for Tubbs. Why? Because not only is he an amazing dog, but MANY of the dogs listed on the ballot or already in the Hall of Fame are his offspring! Hawaiian Rhino (already in) is his grandson, Big Busta has Tubbs in his pedigree, Tequila Sunrise, the only female on the ballot this year is Tubbs' daughter. If his kids, grands, and greats are in the Hall of Fame and nominated to be in the Hall of Fame, we really think that he should be in there too. JOHO (just our humble opinion)

So again - it was great meeting everyone out at the Bash!

Thanks to everyone who voted for Polu Boy!

See you on November 8th in Haleiwa!!!!

We will have shirts for sale on November 8th. We'll also be putting pictures of those shirts up here on the blog very soon. If you plan to attend the Ultimate Hawaiian Island Bully show in November though, do not buy from the website! We'll be offering special pricing at the show on November 8th at Haleiwa Elementary.

Our Pitbulls Getting Some Exercise

Here's a short bunch of video clips of Diamond and Moose getting some track time in. Diamond is training, Moose is just in it for the exercise/discipline aspects more than anything at this point.

Anyway - Enjoy...

By the way, we do plan to attend the Bully Bash 3 at the Water Park on October 25th, so if you see us there, please say, "Hello."

Also, we're definitely looking forward to the November 8th, Ultimate Hawaiian Island Bullies show at Haleiwa Elementary. That should be a ton of fun!

If anyone has a broadband wireless laptop card we can borrow, we could probably arrange to broadcast the show live vis ustream. We'll see how that goes. I'd also have to have a power source so that I can keep my laptop plugged in, and of course, there is the little detail about having wireless access at the event. Right now I don't have a card.

I wonder if a store would be willing to lend me one for the event...Hmmmm....

Participate in 1st ABKC Show in Hawaii

If you want to participate in the FIRST ever ABKC show in Hawaii, you MUST pre-register. There is more information and one of the necessary forms up at www.northshorebluepits.com.

We're really looking forward to this event! This is part of the Ultimate Hawaiian Island Bullies event which is scheduled for November 8th at Haleiwa Elementary School.

As for the Bully Bash 3 (the one that was at Waianae the past two times), we're not even sure what's going on with that show at this point. We were scheduled to attend when it was set up for October 4th in Waianae, but now that has all changed, so we may not even be able to attend and aren't really sure of the details as far as that particular event is concerned.

We ARE planning to go up to Hilo for the August 23-24 show and we do plan to be at the November show mentioned above. Hope to see you out there too!

Maui Bound

Yesterday was a reaaaaalllly long day. Glad it's Friday and we're off to Maui tomorrow! Quite a few people from Oahu are going up. Hopefully we all have a nice day. Not too late to make it there!
Nah, if not this event, then another one. There are about 4 more left this year. Howza!

There is one in August on the Big Island. Another in September on the Big Island. The Bully Bash in October on Oahu and the Ultimate Hawaiian Island Bullies event in November in Haleiwa, Oahu. Whew! I think the only one we won't be at is the September event on the Big Island. We already had a previous engagement set up and can't change it.

So - hope to see you at one of the events!

Moose and Maui

Two different subjects, but we're going to talk about both in the same post.

First, Maui
It's almost time to go to Maui! Unfortunately, we won't be able to take Diamond as planned. We wanted to take her up so that she could pull. BUT, she just went into heat, so we can't take her. Will we be breeding her? Ahhh, check back here over the course of the week to get the answer to that question. That's a little off topic though so let's get back to Maui...if you're going up, be sure to stop by and say, "Hello." Hopefully, we don't get lost because we really have no idea how to get to the event from the airport, but it's going to be at War Memorial. There are actually quite a few people from O'ahu going up there. I think we'll have a fun day. We'll try to take pictures and let you know how it went. One thing I know for sure...Allen is going to say at least once that day something along the lines of, "I wish I could've brought Diamond." Anyway - like I said, we'll let you know how it went.

On to Moose
Isn't he a handsome guy? I know, I'm a little biased, but I still think he's a handsome guy. Apparently other people think he's a handsome guy too because we already have people telling us they want puppies from him and we already have people wanting to use him as a stud for their female. Of course, he's not quite ready now, but if you have a female that will be ready toward the end of the year.....Moose may very well be ready then! Stud fee will probably run about $1500 - call for other options.

Almost Time for Maui

June is here and it's almost time for the Bullies event in Maui! Can't wait to go. Should be a lot of fun. Any reason to go off island and not have to do housework allllll day is cool. LOL

There are a number of people trying out the super ferry for this event. It's probably easier to travel with pets via the super ferry, but we didn't have time to stay longer than the day for the event. So we're flying in.

It's not too late to get your tickets to go to Maui and see the bullies up there! Here's the flyer with all the info...click to enlarge

Upcoming Pitbull Events in Hawaii

I meant to write about this earlier, but the LAST day of the Big Boys Big Toys show at Blaisdell Exhibition is tomorrow (Sunday). We probably won't be there, but we were there today. We had lots of fun. If you can make it down there, it's on from 11-4 tomorrow. Hawaii's Strongest Dog is there as well as some of the Team FBIers.

The next event is April 19th. There is a weight pulling competition in Hilo. Allen is going to check out that event.

The other one coming up that we know about is the Bullies in Paradise in Hilo. That one is July 19 & 20 if I'm not mistaken. We plan to attend that one as well.

Also, there is an Ultimate Hawaiian Island Bullies show coming up on November 8th. I don't have all the details on that one yet, but we are planning to be a part of that event as well.

So there is a TON going on this year. Hope to see you at one of the events!

Bullies In Paradise - Great Job

Allen and I spent the day in Hilo on Saturday for the Bullies in Paradise event. It was a lot of fun and the kennels up on the Big Island did a good job of putting everything together. We only wish we were able to take at least one of our dogs with us, but maybe next time.

Just wanted to say "Thank you" to all the kennels on the Big Island for everything....also "Thanks" to the Hawaii's Strongest Dog crew for letting us hang out in the tent 'cuz otherwise we would have been completely toasted!

Anyway - we're looking forward to the next bash here on O'ahu which is scheduled for October at Waianae High School as well as the next Hawaii's Strongest Dog event which will take place on November 18th at King Intermediate.

We'll keep you posted on the upcoming events as we get more information and as the time gets closer.

Great BSL Comment

Okay - yet another recent article about BSL. This time it's from Canada which already has laws banning certain breeds.

But I wanted to share my favorite quote from this article....

"To label an entire breed as dangerous because a few poorly-bred, untrained, improperly socialized dogs cause problems is like labeling all human individuals within a specific ethnic group as lazy or violent."

This article also gives an example on the shortfalls on BSL - read it at Osprey Media.

Pictures from the Pitbull Bash

Well, I have to say, for a first time event, the Pitbull Bash went quite well today. Of course, I think it can be bigger and better in the future, but today's event was lots of fun and a great day for local pitbulls and those who love the breed. We took a few pictures today. We also heard there were a few connections with a few mainland magazines there, so hopefully our local pits will get some mainland exposure.

Those of you who were able to come to the bash, it was great to see you! Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello. For those of you who couldn't make it, hopefully we'll do this again and you'll be able to be a part of the next event.

Hopefully, we'll be able to get some video from the bash up as well, but that may take a little while. But for now, here are some of the pictures from today.

Pitbull Bash This Sunday - Got Shirts

Don't forget to come by the Pitbull Bash this Sunday at Waianae High School.

We got some shirts printed up for the Pitbull Bash - so look for us in these shirts. We do plan on having some for sale there at the bash (L and XL only). So if you're going you can pick up a shirt and you'll also know how to find us! I don't think any other kennel is making shirts of this color, but we'll see.

Hope to see you there this Sunday, April 29th at Waianae High School.
